President's Letter

Karen Dyer

Dear CMSA-Atlanta Members and Friends,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you all for 25 years of continued support for the CMSA-Atlanta Chapter.  Much has changed in the world of Case Management in that time. The demographics of our membership has grown and diversified. Several different Case Management organizations have sprouted to address specific fields such a hospital case management and rehabilitation. We recognize that these changes need to be evaluated and addressed with regard to how we can best serve our membership.

It is our opinion that the most significant services provided by CMSA-Atlanta are networking and Continuing Education. We have taken surveys. We have listened to your comments.

In response to this information, the CMSA-Atlanta Board has decided to reformat how we will offer these services to you, our members, for 2017.  We will plan to have a series of monthly meetings for networking and CEU credits. These credits will be offered at the meeting or perhaps through the CMSA National website. These are free from National as part of the dues you pay. We will be providing more information with the benefits of joining National CMSA.  We are currently planning at least one Half Day Conference. It will be a Saturday (as we all work full time during the week.) Majority said All Day Conference was too long. What you may not know is to get the CEU, but we must have a minimum of 50 minute lecture…that effects the length of the conference…the more CEU’s you want in a conference, the longer the day. It’s mathematical…lol

The only way CMSA-Atlanta can thrive is with your support. Please renew your membership, participate in our activities and recruit new members to our chapter.

Feel free to contact any member of the CMSA-Atlanta Board if you would like to participate in any way.  If you have resources for education please bring them forward.

We would love to share both your talent and time. “Many Hands Make Light Work.”

As Past President Daffany Walker said so well in 2016, “Continue to invest in yourself, your profession, your chapter and your future.”

Please check Our Website for more information on upcoming events.

I look forward to meeting you.

Karen Dyer RN, CCM
